about

Mirror Parties was started in 2012 by B. Waves in London. After finding himself in Glasgow with long standing member Emma Rayner, MP recorded and released the full length 'Bear Vomit' and EP 'In Retrospect' in 2013. After incurring numerous lineup changes over the years, the joke of 'the curse' became part of the bands folklore as members came and went, mysteriously and sometimes without reason.

'Fathers Of The Interesting Gemini' was conceived in the Winter of 2013, largely as a way of fending off complete loneliness in isolation, and partly to give signs of life to a band with a depleting lineup and uncertain future. It is a record about losing direction, your reason and your will. Songs such as 'Neoteric Cyclops', 'Maladroit Babies' and 'Peter Ivers' add an industrial tone to the electronic influence apparent in previous releases, a sound that wears its influences on its sleeve yet is uniquely of Mirror Parties. 'Fathers' sees MP honing their eclectic sound into sound in a more rhythmic and cohesive whole, while continuing to experiment with elements from psychedelic pop, abrasive noise and dark post punk.

Unlike previous MP records, 'Fathers' features contributions in recording and songwriting from all members of the band, resulting in a fundamentally different musical direction. Inspired by a dream, the title lends itself to the sentiment of the star signs while also alluding to two MP members being Gemini.
